NIF & IT'S COMMITTEES

Committees within the Federation play a vital role in shaping its priorities and initiatives. Composed of industry professionals from member companies, these committees focus on key areas, including legislation, regulation, and public engagement. Through their work, the committees ensure that NIF remains responsive to emerging issues and continues to advocate effectively for Nebraska’s insurance community.

OUR COMMITTEES

The Nebraska Insurance Federation utilizes committees to conduct its business.  Unlike many other insurance trade organizations in other states, the Federation is an all-lines trade, representing all insurance companies doing business in the State of Nebraska.  Federation insurance line committees meet to discuss issues and public policy critical to their respective fields.

LIFE INSURANCE COMMITTEE

Nebraska is home of one of the largest life insurance industries in the nation, with iconic companies providing financial security to tens of millions of Americans, as well as thousands of jobs to Nebraskans.  According to the American Council of Life Insurers, over one million life insurance products are in force providing financial security to Nebraska families and businesses.  https://www.acli.com/for-communities/nebraska

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The NIF Executive Committee is the officers and leadership team of the Federation and conducts Federation business in between Board of Directors meetings.  The Executive Committee also serves as the Finance and Audit Committee and the Nominating Committee.

PROPERTY & CASUALTY COMMITTEE

Nebraska Property and Casualty insurers protect the investment in Nebraskans have made in their property and business from both physical damage and from liability.  Being home of both national carriers and local, home-grown mutual companies, Nebraska property and casualty insurers carrying risk for businesses throughout the United States and provide thousands of jobs for Nebraskans.

HEALTH PLAN COMMITTEE

Health care is one of the most important issues facing Nebraskans and is also one of the costliest line items to Nebraska families and businesses.  The Health Plan Committee of the Federation is composed of the major medical plans operating in Nebraska and monitor public policies that affect the quality, availability and affordability of health care in Nebraska.

LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE

The Legislative Committee of the Federation is a committee of the whole that reviews and directs positions on legislation introduced in the Nebraska Legislature.  The Committee meets at least once annually after day ten of the Legislative session.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The Education Committee of the Federation provides guidance and oversight of the Federation’s activities related to insurance education in Nebraska, including the Walter J. Madden Scholarship, which is awarded, in conjunction with the Nebraska Actuaries Club, to two incoming freshman at one of the University of Nebraska campuses annually who are actuarial science majors.
