NIF HISTORY
PROTECTING THOSE INSURED SINCE THE BEGINNING
The Nebraska Insurance Federation was formed over forty years ago to promote and protect the insurance industry and its consumers in Nebraska. Since its beginning, the NIF has grown as the Nebraska insurance industry has grown and now has 49 member companies, which write all types of insurance.
WHO WE ARE
The Nebraska Insurance Federation is the state trade association of insurance companies doing business in the state of Nebraska. The 49 member companies of the Federation include both domestic (Nebraska based) and foreign (companies form out of state) insurers, however the Executive Committee of the Federation must consist of over 50% domestic insurers.
WHAT WE DO
The NIF advocates for the insurance industry before the Nebraska Legislature and the agencies of the State of Nebraska for just and reasonable laws, and it opposes laws that would be unjust and unreasonable to Nebraska insurers and their consumers. The advocacy helps ensure that Nebraskans continue to have access to the needed financial protections for themselves, their families, and their businesses.
WHY WE DO IT
Insurance is a financial promise, and to some, a financial miracle that protects Nebraskans during some of the most difficult times of their lives, whether it is an auto accident, surgery, workplace accident, hail storm, medical diagnosis, event death. Insurance transfers the risk of these events to a larger group, allowing Nebraskans to face these everyday events without financial ruin. Or, in the case of life insurance and its associated products, to safeguard both financial security for retirement and to safeguard families.

ROBERT BELL
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Robert Bell serves as the Executive Director of the Nebraska Insurance Federation and is the owner of Robert M. Bell, P.C., L.L.O., a law firm. Robert received both his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Prior to his role as Executive Director of the Federation, Robert served as a legislative aide for a Nebraska State Senator, a policy advisor for two Nebraska Governors, and as an attorney and legislative liaison for the Nebraska Department of Insurance.
